Atanas P. Slavov lives in Sofia, Bulgaria.
He is the founder of the first SF club in Bulgaria, Terra Fantazia, in Burgas in 1968. He also helped found the Ivan Efremov SF club in Sofia and served as its artistic manager between 1974 and 1989. In 1990, he became one of the creators of the Orphia Publishing House, the first Bulgarian publisher devoted exclusively to SF. He was the president of Orphia in 1991 and 1992. In 1990, the ORPHIA English-language magazine he created and edited received a Karel Award from World SF for its contribution to intercultural communication.
Atanas has compiled dozens of anthologies of Bulgarian SF. Since 2000, he has been publishing the Fanternet ezine (winner of an ESFS Award for Best Fanzine in 2004). In 2007, he helped found the Human Library Foundation and has been compiling the annual FantAstika almanac ever since (winner of an ESFS Award for Best Magazine in 2015). Since 2010, he has chaired the Tera Fantazia Association of Bulgarian SF Artists.
His bibliography includes a SF novel, a few dozens of short stories and over 40 studies on speculative fiction and futurology. He has also created over a hundred fractal-based paintings which have been displayed in various exhibitions.
