Caroline McAllister was an SNP councillor representing Vale of Leven ward on West Dunbartonshire Council. In 2020, she was elected to the SNP's National Executive Committee as National Women's Convener. She was subsequently dropped by the SNP as their candidate to contest the West Dunbartonshire seat in the 2021 Scottish Parliament election. In March 2021, she left the SNP and joined the Alba Party.
